It reduces the symptoms of anxiety, depression and chronic pain

Mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques (MBSR) include meditation, movement and body awareness. These skills are useful in helping people to cope with stress or pain by changing how they experience painful experiences. Unpleasant experiences trigger feelings, thoughts, and defense mechanisms that are detrimental to overall health. These reactions can easily be controlled and improved through MBSR. This pain can be either physical or emotional and can occur after an injury or without any apparent damage. Chronic pain often impairs one's life and interferes with relationships. HIV-1-infected adults experience an increase in CD4+T lymphocytes

In HIV-infected individuals, increasing CD4+ lymphocyte counts is an important part of medical management. The aim is to improve the immune system of those infected by the virus and stop further progress. This metric is an integral part HIV medical treatment in the United States. But how does it work? And which tests are accurate?




The study included 2235 HIV-1-infected individuals who were treated with HAART in 1996 to 1997. Among the participants, 49% showed an increase in CD4 T lymphocyte counts above 200/uL, compared with 16% who were below 200/uL at baseline. Participants who had higher baseline HIV-1 levels were more likely to have higher CD4-T-lymphocyte counts. A lower baseline CD8 count was associated with higher CD4 T-lymphocyte counts.

According to the study, women had higher CD4+-T-cell counts at the start of infection than men. But CD4+ T-lymphocyte count decreased faster in females, leading to a faster progression of HIV. This was particularly true of HIV progression in females than in males. The Western New York HIV/AIDS Referral Center collected 1422 individuals in its 10-year cohort study. From these, 333 had CD4+ CD4+ cell counts of 500/uI (or higher). 178 of these were eligible. The mean CD4+-T-cell count in females was significantly higher than that in males.

Lessens bothersomeness and distress due to hot flushes in HIV-1 infected adults

This study was designed to examine whether HIV-1 treatment could decrease the severity and bothersomeness of hot flashes in HIV-1-infected adults. Researchers found that HIV-1 infected women experienced more severe hot flashes than those who were not. These symptoms can impact quality of life, and may interfere with antiretroviral therapy.
